It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John Peter Holmes Jr. of Vanceboro, North Carolina, born in Saint Louis, Missouri, who passed away on July 16, 2023, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his former wife Maureen; his parents, John Holmes and Dorothy Holmes; and his siblings, David, Michael and Linda.
He is survived by: his wife Mardelle Gustafson; his children, Cindy Holmes of California, Mary Kay Furimsky (Dan) of North Carolina, Laura Kooy (Nick) of California, Mary Beth Lund (Mike) of Arizona, Pete Holmes (Amy) of California and Tim Holmes of California; his grandchildren, Susan Walters (Jimmy), Michael Furimsky (Candice), Stephanie Furimsky, Troy Furimsky, Maureen Kooy, Chris Lund, Katie Lund, Kaylee Lund and Travis Holmes; his great grandchildren, Shea Walters, Lily Walters and Johnathan Lund; and his siblings, Laura, Nancy, Sally, Susan, Marguerite, Richard and Monica.
