He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar Mizell and Verna French Mizell; and his brothers, Larry, Billy and Donald Mizell.
He is survived by: his wife Jo Ann James Mizell; his children, Donna Jo Ables (Chris) of Stokes and Jimmy Ray Mizell, Jr. (Lisa) of Stokes; his siblings, Charles Neal (Darlene) of Greenville and Fay Sutton (George) of Greenville; his grandchildren, Elias Ables (Erin), Tyler Ables (Sarah), Bryar Ables, Dawson Ables, Aubrey Mizell, Andrew Mizell and Madison Mizell; his great grandchildren, Teagan Ables, Ellie Ables and Estella Ables; his sisters-in-law, Linda Fae Mizell and Linda Mizell; and his close friend Bennie Garrett. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
