With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Janis Elizabeth Witherington Cannon of Vanceboro, North Carolina, who passed away on October 24, 2022 at the age of 89. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Donald Witherington and Ruth Witherington. She is survived by: her husband Richard Luby Cannon Jr.; her brother Charles Witherington (Sandra) of Marco Island, FL; her sons, Richard Luby Cannon III (Renny) of Greenville, Kenneth Jeffrey Cannon (Donna) of Cove City and Donald Keith Cannon (Julie) of Vanceboro; and her grandchildren, Christopher Cannon of Greenville, Phillip Cannon of Norfolk, VA, Amanda Jane Cannon of Denver, CO, Emily Cannon Buckner (Brandon) of Cove City, Lauren Cannon Riggs (Justin) of Cove City, Chelley Godwin of Raleigh and Chip Cannon (Jacqueline) of Clayton. She is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Vanceboro United Methodist Church, Friends of the Library, The Chapman's Chapel Cemetery Fund (Paulette Smith, 1355 Wilmar Road, Vanceboro) and the Vanceboro Ruritan Club.
