James Earl Stox Obituary
The memory of James Earl Stox of Vanceboro, North Carolina, who passed away on April 9, 2025 at the age of 86, will forever remain in the hearts of those touched by this precious presence in their lives. He was predeceased by: his parents, Virginia Belle Stox and James Jefferson Stox; his son Richard Earl Stox; his siblings-in-law, Dolly Stox, Bobby Bowen and Randy Bowen; and his mother-in-law Mary Bowen.
He is survived by: his wife Janita Bowen Stox; his children, Karen Lynn Sutton of Emerald Isle and Kevin Wayne Stox of Smithfield; his daughter-in-law Judy Merritt Stox of Hookerton; his stepdaughter Carla (Timothy Gray) of Greenville; his grandchildren, Dustin Wood, Casey Wood, Meredith Smith, Paige Thereault and Jayden Stox; his stepgrandchildren, Chandler and Tyler Gray; his pet Coco; his brother Dr. Lorenza Stox; and his close friends, Terry, Vickie Harrington and Michael Harrington. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 19th 2025 from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM at the Freedom Baptist Church (234 Old Snow Hill Rd, Ayden, NC 28513). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 19th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
In Lieu of flowers memorials are encouraged to be given to Janita Stox, in c/o Freedom Baptist Church, 234 Snow Hill Street, Ayden, NC 28513.
