It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Alton Whitford (Vanceboro, North Carolina), who passed away on June 5, 2021, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his wife Geraldine Gaskins Whitford; his parents, Victor Earl and Beulah Gladson Whitford; and his brothers, Frankie and Bobby Whitford.
He is survived by: his daughter Sharon W. Purser (Jimmy); his granddaughter Jamie Peterson (Dennis); his great grandchild Thomas Peterson; his brothers, Jimmy Whitford (Johnnie) of Ernul and Gene Whitford of Ernul; and his sisters-in-law, Elsie Whitford and Jean Whitford.
