He is survived by: his children, Brandon Clay Ellis of Vanceboro and Amber Ellis Foster (Jonathan) of New Bern; his siblings, Wayne Ellis of Vanceboro, Janice McCoy of Vanceboro and Teresa Morris (Calvin) of Vanceboro; and his grandchildren, Lilly Ann, Branson Ray, Ashdon Clay and Lillian. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
