Dora (Dink) Tyson Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Dora (Dink) Tyson of Vanceboro, North Carolina, who passed away on February 26, 2024 at the age of 96. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Lonnie Hathaway and Effie Hathaway; her husband William D Tyson, MSGT USMC (RET); her daughter Karen Tyson; and her sister Lucille Hathaway Hines.
She is survived by: her children, Craig Tyson (Pat Swindell Tyson), Kathy Tyson Harrison (Billy) and Barry Tyson (Cora); and her close friend Cora Hart Smith (Colonel Dawson Smith). She is also survived by seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, please make Memorial Contributions to St. James United Methodist Church, Oakmont Baptist Church where in her final years she enjoyed Sunday morning television services, The Marine Corps Museum in Quantico, Virginia, The American Legion and the VFW, both in Greenville, NC.
