He was predeceased by: his wife Mamie E. Herring; his parents, Onnie R. Herring and Woodrow W. Herring; and his grandson Charles Robert Herring, Jr.. He is survived by: his children, Charles R. Herring "Robert" (Marie) of Farmville, NC, Johnnie W. Herring of Greenville, NC and Sherry M. Herring of Greenville, NC; his sisters, Linda Kornegay of Goldsboro, NC, Pattie M. Herring of Mount Olive, NC, Becky Herring of Mount Olive, NC and Kaye Raglin of Dayton, OH; and his granddaughter Jayden Dodson of Farmville, NC. He is also survived by two nieces and two nephews.
