It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Betty Allen Akin of Vanceboro, North Carolina, who passed away on September 10, 2023, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Hershel Allen and Gladys McKenzie Allen; and her husband J. Reginald "Reg" Akin. She is survived by: her daughters, Debbie A. Parker (Clif) of Emerald Isle and Donna A. Newton of Winterville; her grandchildren, Ashley Parker Waugh (Donald) of Maryland and Athan Parker (Julie) of Emerald Isle; and her great grandchildren, Parker Waugh of Virginia, Dean Finely Waugh, Mamie Grace Waugh and Waverlie Lina Ann Parker.
