She was predeceased by: her parents, Eddie and Mattie Barnes, Sr.; her siblings, Billy Barnes, Eddie Barnes, Jr., Willie Lee Barnes, Willie Rogers, Alton Rogers and Bertha Howell; and her pet Oliver Tucker Dawson.
She is survived by: her husband Valentine O. Awosika; her children, Lukeshia Tayvonne Davis (Shelton) of Greenville, NC, Earnest Lee Hudson, Jr. (Nicole) of Bowie, MD and Yanikki Nicole Hudson of Upper Marlboro, MD; her stepchildren, Mary Funke Haft (Dave) of Washington, DC, Ayo Tunde Lawrence (Jeremy) of Los Angeles, CA and Lashawn Awosika of Salisbury, MD; her grandchildren, Anthony Michael Baker, Morgan Elyse Davis, Nia Simone Hudson and Naliya Selene Hudson; her stepgrandchildren, Carter Haft, Zahava Lawrence, Skai Johnson and Aven Haft; and her siblings, Johnny Barnes, William Barnes, Donnie Barnes, Mary Best, Ruthie Sutton, Diane Little, Mattie Hudson and Evangeline Taylor. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 22nd 2025 at 4:00 PM at the Wilkerson Funeral Home & Crematory - Greenville (2100 E 5th St, Greenville, NC 27858).
