He was predeceased by: his parents, Alfred Howard and Virginia Dare Ward; his daughter Tamberlyn Ward Alderson; his son-in-law Fred Alderson; and his siblings, Ruth Lusk, Ruby Tester, Melvin, Raymond and Dean Ward.
He is survived by: his wife Geraldene Trivett Ward; his daughters, Terry Leigh Ward of Valle Crucis and Robin Ward Miller (Curt) of Raleigh; his niece Piper Woodring (Steve) of Boone; his grandsons, Robert Jason Greene (Casie) of Mountain City, TN, Tucker of Charlotte and Carson Isaacs of Charlotte; his stepgrandchildren, Lea of Raleigh, Ryan of Raleigh and Kaylee Miller of Raleigh; his great grandchildren, Zachary Laird of Burlington and Cory Williams of Mountain City, TN.; and his friends, Scott Wallace and Michele Gragg.
