He was predeceased by: his parents, Lee Hobson and Dessie Marie Clanton Pennell; his daughter Brenda Ann Pennell; and his siblings, Edmond Pennell, Bill Pennell, Roger Pennell, Fred Pennell, Joan Wiles, Tead Foster and Pauline Copeland.
He is survived by: his children, Walter Floyd Pennell of Moravian Falls, Shannon Clay Smithey of Moravian Falls, Kim Marie Aiken of Vale, Bonnie St. Charles of Richmond, Virginia and Betty Robinson (Ron) of Moravian Falls; and his siblings, Donnie Pennell (Carolyn) of Lansing, Kenneth Pennell of Jacksonville, Florida, Earline Copeland of Georgia, Kathy Hunter of Canton, NC and Bonnie Snow (Jack) of Clemmons. He is also survived by nine grandchildren.
