He was predeceased by: his parents, George Smith and Sarah Watts Smith; and his brother Forrest Smith. He is survived by: his wife Judy Tallent Smith; his sons, Mark Smith (Amy) of Vale and Wesley Smith (Marcie) of Vale; his grandchildren, Cole Smith, Nathan Smith and Caitlin Smith; his siblings, Joe Smith (Faye) of Vale and Margie Sain of Lincolnton; and his siblings-in-law, Jerry Tallent (Crystal) of Vale, Jeff Tallent (Toni) of Hickory and Joyce Houser (Fred) of Vale. He is also survived by numerous loving nieces and nephews.

Due to COVID-19 a mask and social distancing will be required.
