He was predeceased by: his parents, Hoyt E. Mathis and Cora Lee Jenkins Mathis. He is survived by: his sisters, Nancy Swafford and Elizabeth Gibbs of Morganton; and his nephew Leroy Swafford (Sue). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
