He was predeceased by: his parents, Lewis "Fisher" and Tess Heavner Smith. He is survived by: his wife Betty Stamey Smith; his children, Michael Allen Smith of Valdese, Teresa Proctor of Icard and Carla Smith of Icard; his sister Reba Pfeiffer of Mobile; his grandchildren, Adam Proctor, Jessica Proctor, Tyler Smith, Matthew Smith, Peyton Smith and Quenton Smith; and his great grandchild Ashlynn Throneburg.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P. M. Friday at Heritage Funeral Service, Valdese. (Mask and Social Distancing are required).

Memorials may be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 1721 Enon Rd., Valdese, NC 28690.
