She was predeceased by: her parents, William H. "Bill" and Jennie Small Berry Phyllis; her husband Ray Buchanan; and her siblings, Billy Ray Berry and Barbara B. Denton.

She is survived by: her daughter Ann B. Carswell (Danny) of Valdese; her grandchildren, Kristin C. Baldwin of Anderson, SC and D. J. Carswell (Betsy) of Rutherford College, NC; and her great grandchildren, Stone Baldwin, Blake Baldwin, Braleigh Carswell, Bentley Carswell and Berkley Carswell.
