He is survived by: his wife Rev. Iona Carswell Ward; his daughters, Erica Lackey (Jason) of Vale and Meia Ward (Stacy Hoyle) of Hickory; his grandchildren, Brittani Ward, Daniel Lackey and Jerry "J. D."; his sons, Jeffrey Ward (Teresa) of Newton and Sean Ward of Boone; his grandchildren, Ian Ward, Madison Ward and Parker Ward; and his siblings, Robert Ward (Geraldine) of Valley Crusis and Ruby Tester of Burlington, NC..
