He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Townsend and Elizabeth Franklin Townsend; and his daughter Lorene. He is survived by: his wife Sadie Ruth Herman Townsend; and his children, Lloyd F. Townsend of Winston-Salem, Carolyn Yancey of Connelly Springs and Shelia Lineberger of Hickory. He is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren.
