He was predeceased by: his parents, Edgar Lutz and Mary Pascal Lutz; his wife Bonnie Seagle Lutz; and his brothers, Howard Grady Lutz (Mary Faye) and Edward Lutz.

He is survived by: his daughter Mary Lutz Gordon of Valdese; his grandchildren, Dustin Leith Gordon (Jessica Lynn Gordon) and Kimberly Gordon Bostian (Mark Bostian); and his great grandchildren, Elijah Edward Pritchard, Zion Paul Pritchard and Madalyn Leith Gordon.
