He was predeceased by: his wife Lorena Mae Burns; his son-in-law Lonnie Lail; and his siblings, Aubie Burns, Vergie Burns Wellman, Connie Burns Yancey and Minnie Ray Burns Paige.

He is survived by: his children, Barbara Lail of Connelly Springs and Bobby Burns (Cheryl) of Las Vegas; his grandchildren, Jonathan Hutzler (Johnna), Melissa Futala (James), David Hutzler, Bobby Lee Burns and Brady Gene Burns; his great grandchildren, Andrew Hutzler, Jonathan Paul Hutzler, Carmine Barr and Gia Futala; and his sister Floy Burns Fortenberry of Connelly Springs.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Berea Baptist Church at 1392 US Hwy 70, Connelly Springs, NC 28612.
