It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Carolyn Chappell Layden (Tyner, North Carolina), who passed away on April 16, 2020, at the age of 77, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Romes Chappell and Reba Mae Ward Chappell; her husband Millard Thomas "Shorty" Layden, Sr.; and her siblings, Daisy Hayter, Lillian Churn, Laverne Harrell and Romes Elvin Chappell.
She is survived by: her children, Debbie L. Whitehurst (Greg) and Millard T. Layden, Jr.; her sisters, Betty Jane Harrell, Janice Hollowell and Mary Lee Barclift; her granddaughters, Haley Perkins (Matt), Olivia Bass (Michael) and Kayla Layden; and her great grandchildren, Karsyn, Maelyn Perkins and Brayden Bass.
Recognizing that restrictions associated with the Coronavirus Pandemic have caused some to limit going out in public, the family will hold a service to Celebrate her Life at a later time so that everyone may gather and share memories.
