He is survived by: his wife Marilyn McKinney; his grandson Zachary David Richardson; his children, Joshua David McKinney and Jennifer Jackson; his brother Ronald McKinney; his nephew Chad McKinney (Rhonda); his great-nieces, Callie and Cassie McKinney; his stepsons, Travis Crowder (Brooke) of Newland and Christopher Crowder (Tonya) of Spruce Pine; and his granddaughters, Taylor, Addison, Olivia Crowder and Bella McKinney.
