He was predeceased by: his parents, Woodrow Whitson and Bulow Wilson Whitson; and his sister Evie Tipton. He is survived by: his wife Kathy Whitson; his sons, Jeremiah Whitson and Johnny Whitson (Denise); his grandchildren, J. D. Bradley (Mackenzie), Megan Allen (Jessie), Hadden Whitson, Hannah Whitson and Madison Whitson; and his sisters, Nina Whitson and Jane Whitson. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
