He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Cummings and Mary Cummings. He is survived by: his wife Patricia Barry Cummings (Patti); his children, Christopher Barry Cummings (Ellie) of Charlotte, NC and Mary Alice Cummings Pressley (Willy) of Arden, NC; his siblings, Larry Cummings (Judy), Allen Cummings (Susan), Nancy Humphries and Carol Cummings; his brother-in-law John Barry (Susan); his grandchildren, Miller Cummings, Emery Cummings, Tommy Cummings and Lucy Pressley; and his child Big.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, April 26th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Tryon Presbyterian Church (430 Harmon Field Rd, Tryon, NC 28782).

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials may be made to: A.C. Reynolds High School with the memo reading A.C. Reynolds High School Athletics.
