With heavy hearts, we announce the death of James Cowan of Tryon, North Carolina, who passed away on January 11, 2021 at the age of 88. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, John W. Cowan and Lillie Davidson Cowan; his grandson James "Tank" Waters; and his brother John Charles Cowan. He is survived by: his wife Patricia Caston Cowan; his children, E. Woodford "Woody" Cowan (Jan) of Tryon and Janet Cowan Chapman (Adrian) of Tryon; and his grandchildren, Samantha Jackson of Tryon and Justin Jackson of Tryon.
