He was predeceased by: his son Jesse Smith Capel, Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Julianne Boone Capel; his daughters, Mary Clara Capel of Chapel Hill, Julie Capel Williams (Steve Williams) and Sarah Kea Capel of Pinehurst; and his daughter-in-law Elizabeth Capel of Atlantic Beach. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
