She was predeceased by: her parents, Claude Frank Batten and Nannie Victoria Batten (Lamonds); her husband A. L. Parnell; and her siblings, Grace Hogan, Winnie Davis, Thelma Epps, Elaine Burgess, Carlie Batten, Wade Batten, Reese Claude Batten (Bud) and Lacy Batten.
She is survived by: her daughters, Bonnie P. Hittepole (Robert) of Mt. Gilead, Pat P. Blake (Michael) of Troy and Angela P. Pettus (Richard) of Morganton, NC; her grandchildren, Adam Bates (Jennifer), Katie Gurgainus, Krista Gurgainus, Christopher Pettus and Katelyn Pettus; her great grandchildren, Adrianah Bates (A. J. Holmes), Jacob Bates, Max Gurgainus and Penelope Gurgainus; and her great great grandchildren, Bradley Holmes and Amelia Mae Holmes.
