She was predeceased by: her father Vernon Eugene; and her sister Peggy Smith. She is survived by: her husband James Ray Saunders; her children, Jennifer McIntyre of Star, April Mabe of Star and Jamie Ray Saunders of Troy; and her brothers, Ernest Simmons of Troy, Remus Simmons of Troy and Vernie Simmons, Jr. of Archdale. She is also survived by six grandchildren.
