He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Ray and Ora Blake Atkins; and his brother Bobby Ray Atkins. He is survived by: his wife Faye Harris Atkins; his daughters, Lynne Atkins Russell (Doc) and Tina Atkins of Troy; his grandson Robert Lee Walsh, IV of Winston-Salem; and his brothers, John Lewis Atkins (Edith) and Royce Atkins (Joyce Ann) of Troy.
