He was predeceased by: his wife Winkie Powell; his son Dan Powell; and his sister Melinda Hatler. He is survived by: his children, David Powell (Bonnie), Doug Powell and Wendy Vaughn (Scott); his grandchildren, Morgan Powell, Dani Sullivan (Pat), Dylan Powell, Alex Vaughn (Jessica) and Chase Powell; his great grandchildren, Peyton and Emma Sullivan; his brothers-in-law, Jacque Voegeli (Jean) and Dan Voegeli (Alice); and his nieces and nephews, Jay, Charlie Voegeli, Belinda Alexander, Emily Wilson, Jill Crittendon and Tori Connor.
A memorial service was held on Sunday, February 16th 2025 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at the Heritage House of Cavin-Cook Funeral Home (494 E Plaza Dr, Mooresville, NC 28115). A reception was held on Sunday, February 16th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Heritage House (494 E Plaza Dr, Mooresville, NC 28115).
