He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Hicks and Mary Charles McFee Hicks. He is survived by: his wife Robin Nash Hicks of Taylorsville; his stepdaughters, Angie Troutman (Matt) of Ocean Isle, NC and Amanda Sturgill (Joe) of Hiddenite, NC.; and his siblings, Joan Clara Baity of Taylorsville and Scott Hicks of Hiddenite. He is also survived by ten grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Dean's memory to any Hurricane Helene relief fund benefitting the people of western North Carolina.
