He was predeceased by: his parents, James Edgar and Mae Fain Burge; his great grandchild Matthew Allen; and his siblings, Beatrice Simpson, Mary London, Ervin, Walter and Tommy Burge.
He is survived by: his wife Virginia "Dare" Willis Burge; his sons, Mark Burge (Yong) of Winston-Salem and Tim Burge of Kernersville; his grandson Michael Allen (Amanda); and his great grandchildren, Hanna and Zachary Allen. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sedge Garden United Methodist Church at 794 Sedge Garden Road, Kernersville, NC 27284.
