He is survived by: his wife Betty Jo Lanier Yates; his son Paul Michael Yates (Joan) of Denton; his siblings, Clyde Yates of Trinity, Allen Yates (Mattie) of Lexington, Houston Yates (Janice) of Denton and Hazel Staley (Burnice) of Asheboro; his niece Cindy Staley; his grandchildren, Curtis Yates, Laura Yates and Stephanie Phee; and his great grandchildren, Tèa Yates and Chayton Yates. He is also survived by other numerous nieces and nephews.
