He was predeceased by: his parents, James Obed Hancock, Sr. and Margaret "Peggy" Mackichan Hancock; his son David Hancock; and his brother Donald L. Hancock. He is survived by: his wife Joann Hill Hancock; his sons, Mike Hancock (Kimberly) of Trinity and Tom Hancock (Cheryl) of Kernersville; his daughter-in-law Lillie Hancock of Mount Gilead; and his grandchildren, Michelle Folsom (Thomas), Deborah Phillips (Chris), Brandon Mounce (Tara), Anna Grace Hancock, Hollie Lynn Hancock, Christie Hancock and Leann Gaddy. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.
