He is survived by: his wife Azeline Whaley Houston of Trenton; and his children, Johnnie Houston, Jr. (Rhonda) of Trenton, Jacqueline Albertson (James) of Chinquapin, Linda Ward (Frank) of Kinston and Gail West of Kinston. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren 25 great-grandchildren 9 great-great grandchildren.
