She was predeceased by: her parents, Roy Mallard and Millie Mallard; and her brothers, John Franklin Mallard and James Edward Mallard. She is survived by: her husband Michael Lee Shepherd; and her brother Aaron Leroy Mallard of New Bern.

A graveside service was held on Monday, January 20th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Friendship Church Cemetery (10 Mile Fork Rd, Trenton, NC 28585).
