He was predeceased by: his parents, Titus Elridge Sumrell and Isabelle Moore; and his siblings, Marjorie Ann Sumrell and Joseph Franklin Sumrell. He is survived by: his wife Nancy Davenport Sumrell; his son Stephen Cale Sumrell (Kathryn) of Goldsboro; his sister Betty Tolston (Gary) of Kinston; and his grandchildren, Weaver Davenport Sumrell and Isabelle Kathryn Sumrell.
