He is survived by: his wife Wanda Tilghman; his son Brian Tilghman (Amanda) of Dallas, TX; his grandchildren, Hadleigh and Jackson Tilghman of Dallas, TX; his pets, Maggie and Molly; his siblings-in-law, David Works (Amy), Clifford Rudd (Donna) and Celia Works; his nephew Jacob Works; and his niece Christina Rudd.

During his career, Donnie worked in various positions including two trips to Antarctica for the National Science Foundation.
