She was predeceased by: her parents, Haywood Brown and Faye Higgins Brown; her husband Ernest Shupe; and her siblings, Irene Vannoy, Alene Vannoy, Burt Brown, Lonnie Brown and Billie Brown.
She is survived by: her children, Bonnie Royal of Elkin, Cathy Moffett of North Wilkesboro, Robin McGrady, Mary Foster (Larry) of Traphill, Bobby McGrady (Debbie) of Mulberry, Johnny McGrady (Debbie) of Traphill and Ricky McGrady (Yang Fang) of Tuscaloosa, AL; and her siblings, Leroy Brown (Mary) of Sparta, Dorthy Edwards (Coy) of Sparta, Shirley Wall (Ronald) of Sparta, Kay Osborne (Mack) of Glade Valley, Mary Waddell of Jonesville and Louise Royal (Don Ray) of Traphill. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, one step-grandchild and seven great-grandchildren.
