He was predeceased by: his parents, Boyd Nathan and Nina Beatrice Brown Simmons; his wife Frankie H. Simmons; his daughters, Tammy Handy and Debbie Ring; and his brother Henry Simmons.
He is survived by: his daughter Tina Hanley (Ken) of Anchorage, Alaska; his son-in-law Lonnie Carl Handy of Roaring River; his brother Tommy Simmons (Pat) of Traphill; his grandchildren, Amy Williams (James), Matt Handy (Angel), Tim Handy (Tara), Anthony Burchette (Christina) and Peyton Hanley; and his great grandchildren, Keegan, Owen, Makina, Hayden, Madalyne, Emma, Maycee, Payton, Layla, Taylor, Trey, Trystan and Malachi.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Middle Cross Baptist Church Construction Fund, 2305 Rock Creek Road, N. Wilkesboro, NC 28659.
