She is survived by: her husband Reverend Chester Downey of Timberlake; her children, Kaynatta Downey of Hartford, Connecticut, Quincy Crawford (Carolyn) of Durham, James Crawford (Karen) of Durham and Rico Downey of Middletown; her siblings, Mary Burton of Durham, Nellie Bullock (Clarence) of Durham, Jacqueline Rogers (Jimmy) of Mebane and Willie Brooks (Pattie) of Raleigh; her aunts, Marylene Taborn of Burlington, Mary Alice Foust of Burlington, Thelma Jones of Burlington, Brenda Summers of Burlington and Jean Alston of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and her siblings-in-law, Laura Garner of Haw River, Tammy Lunsford of Yanceyville, Larry, Barry, Stanley, Bruce, Howard and Ira. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, January 7th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the New St. James Missionary Baptist Church (4130 Pixley Pritchard Rd, Timberlake, NC 27583). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, January 7th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
