He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Taylor and Julia Culligan Taylor; his brother William "Bill" Taylor; his daughter Dodie Leigh Taylor; and his grandsons, Evan Hamilton Taylor and Nicholas William Taylor.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia Upchurch Taylor of Roxboro; his children, Robert Timothy Taylor (Merry) of Coats, Deborah T. Jones (Mark H.) of Canton, GA and Troy William Taylor (Liz) of Roxboro; his grandchildren, Daniel (Sophia), Alex, Melania and Jack (Cassie); and his great grandchildren, Graye and Macon.
