He is survived by: his wife Sadie Smith; his children, Sandrea Smith (Scott) of Durham, Sharon Smith (Jerome) of Durham, Donald Pettiford of Durham and Diamond Allen of Raleigh; his grandchildren, Raquele Smith, Raheem Smith, Rasean Smith, Joshua Smith, Rashomon Smith and Sade'Smith; and his siblings, Mable Gentry of Roxboro, Shirley Paylor (Tezell) of Roxboro, Elizabeth Hughes of Durham, Ellen Jones (William) of Raleigh and William McClairy of Durham. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.
