He was predeceased by: his parents, Linville Lyon and Flora Cheek Lyon; his wife Delcie Gentry Lyon; and his brothers, Harold Lyon and Orrion Lyon.

He is survived by: his children, Danny Lyon (Karen) of Elkin and Tammy Prevette (Randy) of Thurmond; his siblings, Joseph Lyon (Bonnie) of Greensboro, Lee Lyon (Carol) of State Road, Annie Layell of State Road and Iona Martin (Freddie) of Thurmond; his grandchildren, Kayla Westra (Coad) and Dillion Prevette (DeAnna); and his great grandchildren, Inezleigh Westra, Iselle Westra, Esme Westra, Eiris Westra, Liam Prevette and Annaliese Prevette.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Pleasant View Baptist Church.
