He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Newman and Ina Smith Newman; his wife Hilda Reagan Newman; his granddaughter Emma Faith Hooper; and his siblings, Frank, David, Windell, Grady, Wade, Samuel Newman, Marie Newman, Wilma Guyer and DeEtte Slawter.
He is survived by: his children, Chris Newman (Cindy) of Thurmond, Anita Carter (Chris) of Elkin and Robin Hooper (Ken) of Elkin; his niece Amy Lineberry (Buddy) of Elkin; his sister Barbara Hall of Elkin; and his grandchildren, Lance Newman, McKenzie Jordan (Stephen), Devin Jaros (Greg), Sydney Martin (Luke), Ellie Berry (Tucker) and Mary-Claire Cason (Chris). He is also survived by six great grandchildren.
