He is survived by: his wife Wilma Abernathy; his stepchildren, Nonnie Abernathy of Thurmond, NC, Tamera, Darryl Wilson of Thurmond, NC, Zishia, Daniel Saldano of Jonesville, NC, John, Jamie Abernathy of Ennice, NC, Serena Childress of State Road, NC, Debbie, Jerry Toler of Hazelhurst, GA, Robert, Kim Wright of Hilmar, CA, Craig and Marcy Wright of Turlock, CA; and his sisters, Josie (Randy Davis) of Rouzerville, PA and Viola Patterson. He is also survived by thirty grandchildren; sixty four great-grandchildren; and seven great great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Saturday, October 5th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Faith Assembly of God Church (1714 Zephyr Mountain Park Rd, State Rd, NC 28676). A funeral service was held on Saturday, October 5th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
