He is survived by: his wife Iona Lyon Martin; his daughter Joyce Martin Shipley of Walkertown; his siblings, Billy Martin of Dawson, WVA and Barbara Martin of Virginia; his grandchildren, Joshua Landon Shipley (Haley), Jordan Dale Shipley (Megan), Flora Sidden, Radie Sidden and Alyssa Wondolowski; and his great grandchildren, Bryson James Shipley and Bently Joe Shipley.

In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials be made to The Ark in Elkin.
