He was predeceased by: his parents, Arestus Childress and Pauline Roberts Childress; and his former wife Christine Fennimore Childress. He is survived by: his wife Christine Parker-Childress; his sons, David James Childress (Ashley) and Brian Andrew Childress; his stepchildren, Denice Cheek and Ricky Cheek (April); his stepgrandchildren, Josh Donardt, Callie Taylor, Sydney Cheek and Ryley Cheek; his great grandchild Cora; his siblings, Kay Frances Smith, Arthur Ray Childress (Betty), Johnny Wayne Childress and Charles E. Childress (Rebecca); and his siblings-in-law, Danelle DeLoach (Steve) and David Fennimore. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
