He was predeceased by: his parents, David Allison Long Jr. and Jennie Mae Fife Long of Thomasville. He is survived by: his wife Ann Phifer Hammond; his children, Nancy Metzler (Charles) of Charlotte and William F. Long, Jr. (Raymond Hahn) of San Francisco; his grandchildren, Elizabeth Metzler, Andrew Metzler (Jessica) and John Metzler; and his siblings, Mary Jarrell of High Point and David Long (Mellie) of Jamestown. He is also survived by cousins, nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
