He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Benton and Maxine Benton; his wife Rebecca Jean Spencer; and his sons, Sherwin Michael Spencer and Dion Ray Spencer.

He is survived by: his son Chris Allen Spencer; and his sister Cheryl Malpass. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Saturday, January 25th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Sechrest-Davis (976 Phillips Ave, High Point, NC 27262).
